MR Z Course Rating System
The Mr Z course rating system is my way of evaluating courses to determine which ones will provide the best overall experience for the average public golfer. The Course Rating will be between 1 and 100 and is based on the following elements, rated 1 (lowest) to 10 (highest):
Course Layout (20%) - Flow of course, diversity of holes, proximity of holes to each other (or "do you need a hard hat for protection")
Playability (20%) - Is the course fair, blind shots, hidden hazards, pace of play
Conditioning (15%) - Quality of the greens, fairways, tee boxes, etc
Aesthetics (15%) - The "Wow" factor, visually pleasing to the eye, memorable holes
Amenities (10%) - clubhouse, driving range, helpfulness / friendliness of staff, food & drink
Value (20%) - is it a fair price for the quality of the course, are there discounted rates for afternoon & twi-light, coupons
To get the total score, multiply the rating for each category by the associated percentage, add them up and multiply by 10. A score over 70 will provide a pretty good golf experience!
