Crane's Landing Golf Course has rolled out a new price structure for 2017 that is sure to put a smile on the faces of local golfers. The par 70 layout at the Chicago Marriott Lincolnshire Resort has significantly lowered weekday and weekend green fees, positioning itself as a high value option in the competitive north suburban golf marketplace. A weekend round with cart is now $59, a $16 reduction from the $75 rate in 2016, and an early twilight time at 2 pm drops to $39, one of the best bargains in the Windy City region.
There are 14 additional eighteen hole courses within a 10 mile radius of Crane's Landing, which is located at the southeast corner of the busy intersection of Routes 45 and 22 in Lincolnshire. The average green fees for 2017 for these courses are $43 walking/$58 riding during the week to $57/$69 on weekends. The new $39/$49 weekday rate, coupled with the lower weekend prices, has placed Crane's Landing firmly on the plus side for cost conscious golfers.
"We did a cost comparison analysis to other area courses when determining the new rates," shared EJ Bertke, Director of Golf at Crane's Landing, "and we feel that with the new green fees structure, we now offer some of the most competitive rates on the North Shore and in Lake County."
The course plays to just under 6,300 yards from the tips, but five par 4's over 400 yards and water on 14 holes amps the rating/slope up to a challenging 71.1/130 level. The layout was designed by legendary architect George Fazio in 1975, and is skillfully pieced together on a modest 110 acres of preserved woodlands along the Des Plaines River. The course also carries the Audubon Sanctuary certification, and a sighting of a namesake crane is quite possible near one of the many water hazards.
Another change for 2017 is that walking is allowed anytime, a departure from the weekend morning restrictions, and the mostly level topography and close proximity from green to tee makes Crane's Landing an ideal layout for walkers. "Besides promoting the health benefits of walking, we also find that walkers tend to be the more avid golfers who understand the importance of keeping pace and won't slow down play," added Bertke, who is beginning his 2nd year at Crane's Landing.
In continuing to promote the pace of play and customer friendly focus, Crane's Landing also decided to keep the 10 minute tee time intervals from previous years, a perk that is normally found at much more expensive courses and a key factor in avoiding the lengthy
weekend rounds that golfers dread. A new golf simulator that can be used for recreation or lessons and an expanded food & beverage menu are other additions to enhance the overall Crane's Landing experience.
Besides the 2 pm twilight rate and a 4:30 pm super twilight discount, additional savings are offered to Juniors, Seniors, Hotel Guests and Linconshire residents. A variety of membership packages are also available for those thinking of making Crane's Landing their home course. About This Site
- Windy City Public Golfers Guide
- I am a life long Chicagoan and an avid golfer (or as much as my wife will let me!). And I am also a closet journalist who needed an outlet, so I decided to write reviews of the golf courses that I've played over the years in Chicago. Plus I've added detailed information on each course to help my fellow public golfers find the ones that best fits their skill level and budgets. So, read the reviews and use the comments to either give me a big "thumbs up" or tell me I'm full of crap, check out the courses and other pages, and let me know what you think... Mr Z
