John and I enjoyed playing Coyote Run with you a few weeks back. I think we all agreed that the course was in great shape and that the greens were especially well maintained(and fast!). I may be predjudiced and spoiled since I live close to this course, but I honestly believe that it is one of the best values considering the quality of the course. The info that you are providing at this site is fantastic and I plan to visit often and to also let all my golfing buddies know about it.
Thanks Dr Dave, it was fun playing with you and John. I agree, Coyote Run is a really nice course, I highly recommend it. Check back for my review, it will be published soon. Happy Golfing!!
Played 9 holes this morning at the Schaumburg Golf Club (Tournament Nine), very nice course! Took advantage of great Senior rate (55+) of $12.50 walking ($22 w/c) (offered Tu-F before Noon), will play the other 2 nines on a Monday afternoon ($38 w/c)
Mr Z - I like the new look of the Home Page, including the changed picture - helps the words stand out better. The organization of the site is very clean. Well done. Mike K
Played at Steeple Chase in Mundelein yesterday for the 1st time, awesome course! Challenging, interesting, yet playable. Still not sure how the 18th hole gets back to the clubhouse, quite a golf hole...Mr Z
Took a road trip to Marengo to play Blackstone, my friend was correct, I did like this course!! Well worth the 1 1/2 hour drive to play, review will be coming soon...
I took advantage of the fall rates at Villa Olivia, but I feel I was robbed. The fairways and tee boxes are non-existent, mostly patches of dirt and weeds. The word is the Bartlett Park District will be fixing the course in 2013, if they do as good of a job as they did on the clubhouse, then it should be great. Although the greens were good, finding grass to hit off to get there was a chore...
Joliet Country Club is now the Joliet Golf Club and open to the public for the 1st time in its over 100 year history... https://www.jolietgolfclub.com/
1st Time visit to Renwood in Round Lake, 2 totally different 9's are a fun play and good value at $44 w/cart weekend rate. On Site driving range and 15 minute tee time intervals add to positive experience...
Foss Park was a course on my radar to play for a long time, and I finally got there recently. Fun course, variety of holes, good conditions, great price and friendly staff led to a perfect day of golf in the northern suburbs...
The 1 word to describe my 1st visit to The Bourne was...interesting. Great views and elevation change, unusual hazards and routing, blind shots and zero sand traps in a "brings lots of balls" challenge level...a must play at least once, then decide if it warrants a return trip to Marseilles...
Mill Creek in Geneva will be open in 2022! My thoughts on this course have shifted over the years, but I can't deny that there are some fun and interesting holes here (the par 5 9th is somewhere between brilliant and outrageous) but I'm looking forward to see what changes have been made to improve the experience...
Carillon is one of my favorite plays for a weekend round. $50 w/cart for a mid-morning tee time at a very nice Greg Martin layout is hard to beat. Plus easy access off I-55 at the Weber Rd exit doesn't hurt, either. A top Windy City value...
Village Greens of Woodridge is working hard to separate from the crowded west suburban golf scene. Weekend green fees of $50 w/cart and discounted senior rates (a rare weekend offering in Chicagoland) has made VGW a top value play...
Walk down memory lane with a round at Tuckaway. The far south suburban course along the Indiana border is big on fun and a great value, and was in great condition, too!
St. Andrew's in West Chicago offers one of the best week day deals in Chicagoland. Before 10 am, you can walk for $24 or ride for $40, an excellent price for 2 very nice tracks, the St. Andrew's or Joe Jemsek courses...

ReplyDeleteHeard from more than one person that 2 courses to play in the Northwest are Oak Grove and Blackstone. I'll put those on my list of courses to play!

ReplyDeletePlayed at RedTail up near Crystal Lake yesterday, I LOVED it, a lot of course for a little coinage. Wish it was closer, though...Mr Z
ReplyDeletePlayed Tanna Farms today, at $30 w/cart at 2 pm, best deal in Western suburbs...

Water's Edge was in fine early season shape and a great deal at $40 after 11 am on a Sunday...
ReplyDeletePlayed George Dunne on Saturday, $47 late morning rate is a best buy as this premium layout...
ReplyDeleteRavisloe is a magical place and a must play for any golfer who enjoys classic old school layouts. Great walking course, too!
ReplyDeletePlayed all 27 holes at Cardinal Creek in Beecher on Friday afternoon, $40 w/cart, great deal at fun far south suburban layout...
ReplyDeleteCinder Ridge is a big, bold, beautiful course, definitely worth the drive down I-55...
ReplyDelete1st visit to Kankakee Elks Golf Club was fantastic! Langford/Moreau masterpiece has loads of golden age charm, a must play!
